Analysis of the current situation of China's RFID industry

many people may have experienced long traffic jams, many of which occur at toll stations. If RFID technology is adopted, cars can be identified and charged in the process of driving, there is no traffic jam on the highway, and all bridges can pass quickly...

another common scene is that whenever people finish shopping in shopping malls or supermarkets, they are often stopped by the bustling crowd in front of the cashier, and almost all the shopping fun is swept away. If you use RFID technology and push a full shopping cart, you can complete all settlement as long as you pass in front of the cashier

people may still remember the Qi eryao incident not long ago. A large number of deadly fake drugs have entered the market, taking so many innocent lives, and a large number of fake drugs are still hidden in pharmacies and warehouses all over the country. In order to find out these fake drugs, the whole country mobilized urgently and searched everywhere for several weeks! If RFID technology is adopted, any medicine can be used by the patient from the production line to the end, and the whole process is under control

with RFID technology, the operation efficiency of the whole society will be greatly improved, mine safety supervision will be guaranteed, and people will no longer worry about food safety...

since RFID technology is so magical, someone can't help asking, how far is it from us? What is the application status of RFID technology in China? China Jinan new era Gold Testing Instrument Co., Ltd. electronic universal testing machine is a new generation of precision testing machine produced by our company. How about the formulation process of RFID standards in China? How about the RFID technology development and industry status in China Around these problems, this paper will use several fragments to explain one or two for readers

China's own RFID standard formulation

with the development of science and technology, it seems that few people still have any doubts about the importance of standards. Many so-called international standards are like a sharp sword around the neck of developing countries. Behind the standard dispute, it not only means the huge commercial interests of the industry, but also has a bearing on national interests and information security. Due to various reasons, the formulation of RFID standards in China has experienced ups and downs. After the direct intervention of high-level ministries and commissions, the formulation of RFID standards in China has finally returned to the normal track. On June 9, 2006, China released the white paper on China's RFID technology policy, which is expected by the RFID industry nationwide and even globally. This day is definitely an important day for China's RFID industry. Since then, the pace of development of China's RFID industry will officially accelerate

The standard system of RFID technology mainly includes air interface specification, physical characteristics, read-write protocol, coding system, application specification, test specification, data security and application management. At present, the international RFID standards actually include three camps, namely ISO series, EPC series metal composite testing machine impact testing machine: used to measure the impact resistance of metal composite materials under dynamic load, and Japan's uid series. It is also said that there are EPC and uid series. These standards have different characteristics. At present, the EPC standard has certain advantages in terms of cases and enterprise support. These structures make the light unable to penetrate the potential. The installation accuracy of the tension machine has been reviewed, and the evolution from GEN1 to Gen2 has been successfully realized. Many products in line with Gen2 have been launched. ISO standard adheres to the basic concept of standards, with less commercial interests and more emphasis on the neutrality of standards. Therefore, it seems to have more flexibility and development prospects for accelerating the development of RFID industry. As for the uid standard, it seems that it is gradually moving towards Waterloo by collecting information from all aspects, and it will be more promising to refer to the ISO18000 series of Chinese RFID standards

China has set up seven RFID standard groups, which are the overall group, tag and reader group, frequency and communication group, data format group, information security group, application group and intellectual property group

at present, China's standard participating enterprises have reached more than 100, including all well-known enterprises in China's RFID industry. Some well-known enterprises from abroad, including Microsoft, are willing to participate in the formulation of RFID standards in China

in general, the above seven standards cover all aspects of the RFID industry. The success of the standard will directly determine the development fate of the industry. Then, how to formulate China's RFID standards, which can not only protect the national information security, avoid IP risks, but also be conducive to the rapid development of the national RFID industry

undoubtedly, many large enterprises in the world are a little jealous of China's formulation of its own RFID standards, but given China's status as an RFID consumption superpower, the vast majority of enterprises can understand it

the views of ST company are relatively representative. Yang Junliang, senior engineer of ST's digital security access division, said, "China is about to play a central role in the global RFID industry, so we can understand any behavior of China in establishing its own standards to avoid IP risks. ST will also pay close attention to any progress of China's RFID standards, and be ready to provide RFID products that meet Chinese standards to provide perfect services for Chinese customers."

ti believes that improving the efficiency of the logistics chain is particularly important for China. Ti supports an open and transparent process to develop Chinese RFID standards. Gu Lei, RFID China Sales Manager of TI company, said: "open standards are very important for innovation and application of new products. Ti will be happy to see China move closer to international standards, such as iso/iec and EPC global. Unified labeling must be applied. Only in this way can RFID work seamlessly internationally and nationally, thus making the global supply chain possible." He also said: "whether China will have unique standards or not, ti will provide Chinese customers with the products and solutions they need."

of course, some people don't agree. A senior person from an internationally renowned company, who declined to be named, said, "China's own standards are actually based on this to steal our fruits. The more than 100 RFID patents we have applied for have been obtained by investing a lot of manpower and money and spending more than ten years of efforts. We will pay more attention to this to ensure our legitimate interests."

in fact, even in China, many views are quite different. One of the quite marketable views is that it is best to apply international standards to hardware standards, software standards are compatible with international standards, and application standards should have their own intellectual property rights

on the surface, this is also consistent with the guiding principles for the formulation of national standards, that is, China should first learn from the current international standards, second, it should have its own intellectual property rights, and third, its own standards must be compatible with world standards. However, the author believes that this cannot stand careful deliberation. Because the vast majority of RFID related patents are related to hardware, and there is little involved in the middleware part, and the application is not bound by any patents. In fact, the standards formulated according to this idea may be useless. In this regard, the author agrees with Dai Dingyi, vice president of China Logistics Association. "There should be two principles for formulating RFID standards: first, as long as national security and major intellectual property rights are not involved, international standards, especially open standards, should be used as much as possible; second, do not excessively pursue the unification of standards. Unification is always relative. Complex systems should allow the coexistence of multiple standards, but there should be a convenient coordination and conversion mechanism."

of course, many enterprises are in a wait-and-see attitude, just hoping that the standards will be set as soon as possible. Especially UHF frequency standard is the most urgent. Because the RFID frequencies of ISO and EPC conflict with China's GSM and other networks, China's RFID working frequency has not been settled for a long time. However, according to reliable information, China has just successfully completed the RFID frequency test of UHF band in Shenzhen. The test results show that the RFID test frequency is located in the protective belt between the uplink and downlink of GSM

rfid chip industry is far ahead of international manufacturers in UHF band.

rfid chip plays a decisive role in RFID product chain, and its cost accounts for about one third of the whole label. For chips widely used in low-frequency and high-frequency bands of various smart cards, Chinese IC manufacturers represented by Fudan Microelectronics, Shanghai Huahong, Tsinghua Tongfang, etc. have conquered relevant technologies and broken the dominance of foreign manufacturers

however, in the UHF band, the situation is not very optimistic. Many people don't quite understand it. They think that in UHF band, mobile communication is covered, and in ISM band, a large number of wireless network devices are also covered, so RFID chip should not have any technical difficulty. However, this is by no means the case. It faces many design difficulties, mainly including:

1 Harsh power consumption limits

2. On chip antenna technology

3. Subsequent packaging problems

4. Matching technology with antenna

due to so many design difficulties, the chip production in this frequency band is currently monopolized by foreign manufacturers. Among them, Philips is the first chip manufacturer whose RFID chip has passed the epcgglobal Gen2 standard certification. Philips ucode EPC Gen 2 chip has been put into the market. According to Dirk Morgenroth, the RFID marketing manager of Philips semiconductor, the Philips ucode EPC Gen 2 chip can cover all basic instructions, with a set of single programmable 96 bit EPC primary programmable memory built in. Using the anti-collision algorithm, it can read up to 1600 tags per second under the current American specification. The backscatter data rate was increased from tens of bits per second to 650kbps, and the scanning range was extended to 30 feet. It uses the flexible deployment application field identification code (AFI), which supports not only the EPC Gen2 standard, but also the ISO C coding structure. Morgenroth stressed: "the chip has global compatibility, which effectively solves the specification problem of allocating different UHF bands to RFID in different regions." In addition, the chip has a programmable read-write field, which supports faster tag read-write rate and operation in a high-density reader environment

"at present, the global sales volume of smart cards based on Philips Mifare has exceeded 600million, and more than 5million card readers have been installed. Mifare has become the industry standard of contactless interface technology." Dirk Morgenroth also said, "in the just concluded World Cup, Philips' Mifare ticket technology has been successfully applied."

st company once provided the world with the first RFID chip conforming to EPC specification. At present, it can provide three series of RFID chips conforming to ISO and EPC standards: short-range, long-range and UHF. In the UHF band, its xrag2 chip fully conforms to EPC Gen2. With the advantages of St in serial non lost memory, the chip has 40 years of retention, with more than 10000 erasures, and provides good interoperability, enhanced security and more optimized performance for the logistics industry
